- Have tap aerators Installed.
Tap aerators are a simple and inexpensive way to reduce water consumption at your tap outlet. Tap aerators with integrated flow regulators reduce the flow rate by 60 % and more, e.g. from the normal 15 litres a minute to a reduced 6 litres a minute.
- Fit a Water Saving Isolation Valve.
The valve will give you a constant regulated flow to 6 litres per minute, compared to a standard tap which puts out 8-9 litres per minute. Wherever in the home where there is an isolation valve fitted it can be beneficial to fit this water saving valve.
The Water Saving Isolation Valve will give you a constant water pressure whatever the line pressure. You can get one.
- Use a bowl when preparing vegetables or washing salads.
You can then put the peelings in your compost bin and use the water to water your plants rather than tip it down the drain.
- Store a jug of drinking water in your fridge.
This will eliminate the need to waste water by running the tap to get cold water.
- Do not use running water to defrost frozen meat.
Defrost in a fridge overnight or in a microwave if you really have to.
- Only put enough water in your kettle for your requirements.
This not only saves water but will cut down your electric or gas usage too.
The Eco kettle is the perfect solution, With its patented "Dual Chamber" design, the Eco Kettle is different. The internal reservoir holds 1.5 litres of water ready for use, while the measuring button allows any quantity to be released into a separate chamber for boiling. Simply fill up, then decide exactly how much water to boil ? from one cup to full capacity ? at the touch of a button.
