If your pipes were lagged several years ago, you may need to replace the insulation as it does degrade over time. only use plastic or rubber insulation. Proper insulation can help save money on energy bills.
Tackle draughts.
A cold draught blowing constantly on a piece of pipe work can freeze it solid in a few hours.
Keep your home warm.
To Prevent damage to pipes and tanks caused by the cold heat your home regularly.
Repair dripping taps.
Dripping taps can result in a blocked waste pipe if the water freezes, Make sure all taps are fully turned off and replace any faulty washers.
Keep the house above freezing point.
If you are going to be away for a short time, leave your central heating on a low to prevent pipes from freezing.
Burst pipes
If you are unfortunate enough to have a burst pipe first shut off your stop tap,
Then open all taps in the property to empty the water from the pipes
